Auburn Mountainview girls 4×100 relay grabs first at SPSL/WCC sub-district tourney this Saturday | Track and Field

The Auburn Moutainview girls had a field day at the South Puget Sound League/Western Cascade Conference 3A sub district tournament at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

The Lion girls move on six individuals and one relay team to the West Central District tourney, next weekend at Mount Tahoma in Tacoma.

The Mountainview 4×100 relay team, of Abi Alfrey, Alexi Morton, Whitney Echols and Erika Lombardo sped by the opposition on Saturday, posting a tourney best 49.95-second time to grab the title.

Morton was also stellar in her individual events, grabbing first place in the long jump with a 18-02.00 jump and first in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.57 time.

Morton also punched her ticket to state with a 12.49 second-place time in the 100. Franklin Pierce’s Germe Poston was first in both the 100, with a 11.94, and the 200, with a 24.72.20.

Lombardo was also on her game with a third place finish in the 200 with a 25.52 and a third in the 100 with a 12.53, both good enough for a spot at the district tourney.

Thrower Marissa Paopao grabbed a first place finish in the discus with a 115-04.00 toss and second in the shot put with a 35-10.50.

Natasha Davis qualified for district in the high jump with a third-place 5-00.00 jump and Aalia Braboy was tied for fourth with a 4-10.00.

The West Central District tourney will get underway this Friday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

Three Mountainview boys also qualified for the district meet this past Saturday. Josh Melu finished fifth in the long jump with a 20-05.25. Nick Lipinski was sixth in the 3,200 with a 10:02.79 and Shane Ferrell was sixth in the 110 hurdles with a 16.67 time.
