Auburn Mountainview snags No. 3 seed into districts with 9-4 win against Kennedy | Prep baseball

The defending state 3A champions Auburn Mountainview earned the No. 4 seed into next week's district tournament with a 9-4 sub-district win against Kennedy on Thursday. The Lions (14-8) were led by junior Justin Marsden who had a double, a triple and five RBIs on 2-of-4 hitting.

The Lions (14-8) were led by junior Justin Marsden who had a double, a triple and five RBIs on 2-of-4 hitting.

Junior Josh Swanson added two RBIs and a double and junior Jeffrey Morgan chipped in with 2-of-4 hitting with an RBI.

On the bump, junior Jared Gray earned the win for Auburn Mountainview with four innings pitched and two strikeouts.

Brandon Mozzone, Nate Zadow and Chandler Michalek all pitched in relief.

Kennedy’s (13-4) Rhyse Frey was tagged with the loss on the mound.

The contest was the Lions’ second game of the South Puget Sound League 3A/Seamount League sub-district tournament with the first a 9-8 lost to Bonney Lake in the tourney opener.

Auburn Mountainview will play Prairie at 7 p.m.next Tuesday in the loser-out first round West Central Distrit III/Souhtwest District 4 3A baseball tourney contest at Auburn Mountainview High School.
