Tyler Tanner, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver from Auburn, is one of 15 finalists in the Champion Spark Plug Video Contest that will award $50,000 to the winner.
Tanner’s video was selected from 161 videos.
Champion will award contestants $125,000 in racing sponsorship for the 2013 season. Fifteen racers will win $5,000 Champion sponsorships and compete for the grand prize sponsorship of $50,000.
Phase II of the voting is under way. Participants are allowed to vote once per day. Voting ends March 24.
Tanner, an Auburn High graduate and engineering student at Arizona State University, is the son of former Northwest circuit standout Kelly Tanner.
Tanner. who competed in truck series at Martinsville, Va., last season, is setting up his schedule for more appearances this year. He drove the No. 65 MB Motorsports Ford F-150 sponsored by EF-65 Hand Cleaner.
He made his first series start in October 2011, finishing 30th in the 36-truck field at the Kroger 200 at Martinsville. Starting 31st, Tanner completed 195 of the 200 laps around Martinsville’s half-mile oval. It was his first start in the series.
He began his racing career at the age of 5 competing in quarter midgets. He also has raced go-karts, full midgets, mini sprints and at the age of 17, began racing in he late model division.
