Auburn Riverside girls basketball looking for new head coach

Just weeks after Ed Rosin led the Auburn Riverside girls to a fourth-place finish at the state tournament, the school’s highest Class 4A finish ever, the Ravens are looking for a new basketball coach.

“We were planning to hire on an interim basis for one year (when former-coach Adam Barrett left), with the plan to open it up again,” Auburn Riverside Athletic Director Doug Aubert said. “And Ed was on board with that.”

Rosin took over for Barrett who stepped down in August, 2008. Barrett led the Ravens to two consecutive 3A state titles before leaving to start a club program in Utah.

This season the Ravens finished with a 23-7 overall record and captured the West Central District III title with a 52-50 win over Kentwood, the eventual 4A state champion. The loss was Kentwood’s only loss of the season.

“It was a tough job for anybody to do, especially having to follow someone as successful as Adam,” Aubert said. “But Ed did a terrific job and did everything we asked of him.”

Aubert said that although the school has had a couple of inquiries about the position already, officials are content to take their time filling the position.

“We’re just going to kind of sit back and let them come in,” he said. “Last time we were a little rushed. This time, we don’t want to drag it out, but this time we feel like we can grab some time and evaluate the applicants.”

Questions about the position may be directed to Aubert at 253-804-5159 or by e-mail at daubert@auburn.wednet.edu. Applications can be sent to the Auburn School District Human Resources department at 915 Fourth St. NE., Auburn, WA, 98002.
