Auburn Riverside earned their first win of the season on Friday, powering by Kent-Meridian 38-13 in a South Puget Sound League North 4A contest at French Field in Kent.
The Ravens (1-1 league, 1-1 overall) exploded offensively in the contest, piling up 499 yards of total offense, 225 rushing and 274 passing, against the hapless Royals (0-1, 1-1).
Defensively, Auburn Riverside also rose to the challenge, holding Kent-Meridian to just 257 yards of total offense, 241 rushing and 16 yards passing. The Royals were held to just six, first downs in the contest.
Senior running back Connor Bjornstad led the charge for the Ravens on the ground, piling up 156 yards on 24 carries.
Quarterback John Hakala was 12-of-21 for 274 yards and three touchdowns in the air. The senior co-captain also added a rushing touchdown.
Senior Cameron Grad led the team in receiving, snagging 5 catches for 141 yards and one touchdown. Grad also had a rushing touchdown.
Ravens Nick Alexander and Jaray Bates also found themselves on the receiving end of Hakala touchdown passes.
The Ravens will host Todd Beamer (1-1, 1-1) at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Auburn Memorial Stadium.
ELSEWHERE: The Auburn Mountainview Lions fell 35-12 to the Cruisers Friday night at Eatonville in a non-league game.
