Baden Sports has joined EmD-3-on-3 as the official provider of basketballs for the second annual hoops extravaganza at Emerald Downs on Aug. 9-10.

The Renton-based company manufactures the official state basketball for high schools. The Baden Perfection Contender Men’s Basketball will be the official ball used in all EmD3-on-3 games.

“We are very excited to be associated with such a nationally recognized company that has local ties,” said Bob Fraser, Emerald Downs vice president-operations. “The quality of Baden products are unsurpassed in the industry and we look forward to growing this event together.”

A total of 261 teams and 1,044 players played in last year’s inaugural EmD3-on-3, held on 29 courts in the north parking lot of Emerald Downs. The event, which drew more than 2,000 spectators, crowned 29 champions in 24 different divisions and raised more than $25,000 for local charities.

“The EmD3-on-3 is quickly becoming one of the premier outdoor basketball events in the Northwest and, as a Washington company, we’re pleased to be lending local support,” said Matt Holm, vice president, Baden Sports. “Players using our Contender basketball will find it an ideal choice for the environment, providing the feel and performance of an indoor ball, but durable enough to withstand the elements. We’re excited to be a part of the action and are looking forward to a memorable event.”
