BASEBALL: Raven baseball unloads on Federal Way, gets 10-8 win

The Auburn Riverside baseball team notched a 10-8 win over Federal Way on Wednesday. The Ravens were led by third baseman Michael Sherwin who was 3-of-4 from the plate with four RBIs and two home runs. Centerfielder Joe Briggs added three RBIs and a home run on 3-of-3 hitting and Jordan Hudson added three RBIs and a triple.

On the mound, Kyle Rogers was awarded the win for his three innings of work. Closer John Hakala was awarded the save.

For Federal Way (3-6 league, 5-7 overall), Jarred Lee was tagged with the loss.

The win improves the Ravens to 3-5 in the South Puget Sound League North. Auburn Riverside will travel to Jefferson (4-5, 6-6) at for a 4 p.m. contest against the Raiders on Friday.

ALSO: Auburn was defeated by Kentlake 15-2 this past Wednesday. The Trojans were led by Bret Renschler and Zac Tate who both had RBIs. Jacob Carson was tagged with the loss on the mound. For Kentlake (5-2, 6-2), Zach Wright was 3-of-3 from the dish with six RBIs. Doug Christie was awarded the win. The Trojans (2-6, 3-9) host Kent-Meridian (0-7, 0-7) at 4 p.m. Friday. … The Franklin Pierce Cardinals (6-4, 6-5) staged a seventh inning rally to defeat Auburn Mountainview (7-2, 10-3) 4-1 on Wednesday. With the score tied 1-1, Lion starter Cody Hebner gave up a three-run tater to Cardinal Andrew Jacobsen in the seventh inning. Hebner was tagged with the loss with Brooks Roy earning the win with 6.1 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts. John Deck earned the save. Nathan Hostetter had Auburn Mountainview’s only RBI. The Lions will look to rebound with an away game at 4 p.m. Friday, against Enumclaw (7-1, 9-1).
