Esther Yu wins district golf title for Auburn Mountainview

Yu shot four under par in round one to push her to a district win.

Auburn Mountainview has a new district champion in the spring as Esther Yu, in just her second season, was crowned the West Central District Champion on the golf course for the Lions.

The sophomore shot a 70 in round one, which was four under par for the course. Then in round two, she shot a 76, for a two day total of 146.

Yu came in eighth place in the state as a freshman at Eagles Pride Golf Course in DuPont. Her two day total for that tournament was a 155 — 81 in round one and 74 in round two. Of the top seven finishers in 2024, four of them were seniors last season. But the 3A champion was Nicole Tang, a fellow freshman from Bellevue High School, who shot a 144.

This year, state golf is on the other side of the mountains as Yu heads to Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane on May 20-21.
