Former Green River basketball standout McIntosh earns PacWest honors

Former Green River Community College basketball player Ryan McIntosh, currently at Dominican University of California, made the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll last week.

Former Green River Community College basketball player Ryan McIntosh, currently at Dominican University of California, made the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll last week.

McIntosh – a 6-foot, 4-inch shooting guard and Rogers High School graduate who played for Green River as a freshman – has scored in double figures three times this season, including a 15-point, six-rebound performance against Western Washington University at the Disney West Tip-Off Classic, Nov. 4 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

He leads the Penguins in scoring at 11.5 points per game, through four games, and is shooting 64.3 percent from behind the 3-point arc (9-of-14), fifth best in the PacWest.

McIntosh averaged 12 points a game at Rogers and was named to the second-team all-South Puget Sound League South 4A as a senior.

After his freshman year at Green River, McIntosh transferred to the College of Southern Idaho, where he participated in the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament.

McIntosh is currently a sophomore majoring in psychology at Dominican, which is located in San Rafael, Calif.

The Penguins will play WWU at 7 p.m. Saturday in Bellingham.
