Trainer Joe Toye and owner/breeder David Breiwick enjoyed a big night Friday as live racing resumed at Emerald Downs.

Tale Spinner and Kahului Bluff – full brothers trained by Toye and owned and bred by Breiwick – won back-to-back races, including the $10,500 Proliance Orthopedic Associates Purse for 3-year-olds.

Ridden by Ronald Richard, Kahului Bluff edged Sthenios by a head in the feature, running six furlongs in 1:10.75 on a fast track. Kahului Bluff, winning his second straight race, paid $7.60 to win.

A race earlier, Tale Spinner drew off for a four-length victory in 1:36.86 for one mile. Ridden by David G. Lopez, Tale Spinner paid $6.80 to win.

Kahului Bluff, a 3-year-old gelding, and Tale Spinner, a 4-year-old gelding, are both Washington-breds by Raise the Bluff-Summer Straw. They both have three career victories, and both are multiple winners at the meet.

Marvin’s Magic ($4.40) notched a three-quarter-length victory in Friday’s third race and tied He’s a Cruiser for most wins at the meet at five apiece. A 6-year-old Washington-bred trained by Howard Belvoir and ridden by Juan Gutierrez, Marvin’s Magic has won four straight and is 5-0-1 in 10 starts at the meet. … He’s a Cruiser finished fifth as Spot of Salt ($5.60) improved to 14-for-33 lifetime with a two-length victory in race four. … With the victory on Spot of Salt, jockey Eliska Kubinova hit the 50-win mark for the third straight year at Emerald Downs. … Jockey Ronald Richard rode two winners Friday. … Come On Cozzene ($3.60) posted her third straight win and notched her fourth victory of the meet in race two, holding off Wedge of Gold in 1:10.80 for six furlongs. A Washington-bred by Devine Cozzene, Come On Cozzene is owned and trained by Howie Gibson. … Rocco Bowen, taken to the hospital for X-rays after a starting gate mishap Monday, was back in action Friday and scored the victory on Come On Cozzene. … Trainer Lisa Gangidino recorded her first career victory as One Cheezy Dude ($2.60) prevailed in the seventh race finale. … Trainer Alan Bozell had saddled five straight second-place finishers before Hey Lil Missy ($4.40) led gate-to-wire in Friday’s first race. Bozell then added two more seconds, Wedge of Gold finishing second to Come On Cozzene in race two, and Parkers Bluff was second to Spot of Salt in race four. … Longacres Mile champion Stryker Phd breezed five furlongs in 1:00.20 Friday and could run in an allowance race before the meet ends Sept. 28. … Live racing continues Saturday with a nine-race card at 2:15 p.m.
