Glo Bou Liza prevails in Mother’s Day Feature at Emerald Downs

Glo Bou Liza powered to the lead past mid-stretch and edged clear for a 2 ½ -length victory Sunday in the $18,000 allowance feature for 3-year-old fillies before a packed house on Mother’s Day at Emerald Downs.

With Deborah Hoonan-Trujillo riding, Glo Bou Liza ran six furlongs in 1:10 and paid $15.60, $10 and $4.80. Charles Essex is the trainer for owners Rich and Ann Anderson. A Washington-bred by Globalize, Glo Bou Liza has a 2-0-0 record from three starts with earnings of $19,051.

Sunday’s outing was Glo Bou Liza’s first since last September, and the precocious return stamps her as a contender against the unbeaten Ladyledue in the $50,000 Federal Way Handicap on May 24.

No Flies On Doodle, a 7-1 longshot ridden by Gallyn Mitchell, held second place and returned $8.60 and $4.60. The Washington-bred by Storm Blast was resilient on the lead and has a win and a second in two career starts, both this season at Emerald Downs.

It was 1-½ lengths back to Seeking Ema, the 2-1 betting favorite who rallied belatedly under Juan Gutierrez for third place and a $2.80 show payoff.

Crocodile Tuff, Where I Belong, Lotta Passion and Wavy Road completed the order of finish.

Hoonan-Trujillo rode two winners on the 10-race card.
