Kentlake moves on to district; Kent-Meridian’s Tongco third in all-around | Gymnastics

The Kentlake gymnastics team earned a spot in next Saturday’s district meet with a fourth-place finish at this past Saturday’s South Puget Sound League 4A meet at Mount Rainier High School.

The Falcons posted 163.375 points, with Emerald Ridge taking home the team title with 169.325 points.

Kentlake’s Avalyne Peters finished seventh in the all-around with 34.200 points.

Teammate Calista Webb cracked the top-20 with an 18th-place, 32.825-point performance.

Also aiding the Falcons’ efforts were Katie Beliveau, Alexandra Beliveau, Jolene Carlson and Aloni Holmbeck Barboza.

Kentlake competes on Saturday at the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 meet at Mount Rainier High School.

Also moving on to district is Kent-Meridian’s Caila Tongco, who finished third in the all-around (35.570). Tongco was second in the vault with a 9.600 and third on the beam with a 9.100.

Also moving is Kent-Meridian’s Marcella Ratsomy who will compete in the vault at district.

From Kentridge, Crystal Valmonte will compete in the beam and bars; De’Chanelle Kalulu Finau will move on in the floor exercise, and Amanda Hamakani will compete in the vault.

Tahoma’s Tenley Mjelde was first in the all-around with 36.875 and Mount Rainier’s Ava Welch was second with 36.175.

The state 4A meet is Feb. 20-21 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
