Kunimura, Ravens take fifth at 4A state gymnastics championships

Auburn Mountainview’s Ariana Martinez was 14th in the all-around

Auburn Riverside’s Hailey Kunimura finished fifth in the all-around competition at the 4A state gymnastics championships at Sammamish High School in Belleuve last Friday.

The Ravens took fifth as a team.

Kunimura scored 37.025 in the all-around standings on the strength of a fifth-place finish on the beam (9.4) and a seventh-place effort on the bars (9.225).

Camas’ Shea McGee took the all-around title (38.175), leading her squad to the team championship.

Auburn Mountainview’s Ariana Martinez was 14th in the all-around.

Auburn Riverside’s Alyssa Hatch and Samena Tate went one-two in the floor exercise during the all-around competition. Martinez tied for fourth.

In the individual event finals last Saturday, Kunimura was ninth on the bars (9.250), Martinez was sixth on the beam (9.275) and finished tied with Hatch for seventh in the floor exercise (9.350).

Kunimura, Tate, Hatch, Madeline Kelly, Ashley Park and Seona Lang represented the Ravens at state.
