Lions’ bats fall silent during season-ending loss | 3A fastpitch

Auburn Mountainview did not place, but earned its first state-playoff win since 2009

Auburn Mountainview produced just three hits in a season-ending 5-1 loss last Friday against Lake Washington in the Class 3A state fastpitch tournament at the Recreational Athletic Complex in Lacey.

Freshman outfielder Adrianna Lomeli-Smith, who finished 1 for 3, drove in the Lions’ lone run.

Auburn Mountainview, which finished with an 18-6 record, was relegated to the consolation bracket after losing its state-opener, 8-3, against Everett. Zoe Collins, Lily Hope and Lomeli-Smith each produced two hits in that contest for the Lions.

Collins followed that performance with eight strikeouts on the mound as she helped Auburn Mountainview to its first state-playoff win since 2009 in a 2-0 victory against Juanita. Emily Martinez and Megan Perius each finished with a team-high two hits during that contest.
