Lions’ Jensen earns WIAA State Athlete of the Week honors

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has recognized Auburn Mountainview quarterback Gresch Jensen as one of its State Athletes of the Week.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has recognized Auburn Mountainview quarterback Gresch Jensen as one of its State Athletes of the Week.

Jensen, a senior who has verbally committed to the University of Montana, is one of 12 varsity athletes WIAA staff honored this week.

Jensen threw for 379 yards and scored six touchdowns in the Lions’ come-from-behind 46-42 victory over Lakes last Friday. He connected on the game-winning touchdown to Vaughn Daggs with 54 seconds left on the clock.

In recognition of their accomplishment, each Athlete of the Week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese, a commemorative WIAA State Athlete of the Week T-shirt and a certificate.

Winners are also posted to the WIAA website at www.wiaa.com.

Auburn Mountainview (5-1 overall, 3-1 South Puget Sound League 3A) travels Friday to Gig Garbor to take on Peninsula (2-4, 1-3). Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Roy Anderson Field.
