Noosa’s little brother brilliant in debut | Emerald Downs

Move over Noosa Beach and Music of My Soul, there's a new kid on the block. Noosito – full brother to multiple stakes winners Noosa Beach and Music of My Soul – turned in a sensational debut effort Saturday for trainer Doris Harwood and owner Last Rose Stable. With Isaias Enriquez aboard, Noosito ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1 minute, 3.43 seconds, and paid $6.80 as the second choice in the $18,100 maiden special weight event for 2-year-olds.

With Isaias Enriquez aboard, Noosito ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1 minute, 3.43 seconds, and paid $6.80 as the second choice in the $18,100 maiden special weight event for 2-year-olds.

Royal Tide finished second and Smart Copy, the even-money favorite, finished third after losing the early pace duel with the winner. Noosito set fractions of :22.22, :44.95 and :57.12 en route to the three-length victory.

A Washington-bred by Harbor the Gold-Julia Rose, Noosito was sold for $55,000 to top the 2012 Washington Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners Association summer yearling and mixed sale. His older brothers are both multiple stakes winners, and Noosa Beach is widely considered the finest horse in track history. A two-time Washington Horse of the Year, Noosa Beach won a record 11 stakes and retired with 14 wins in 22 starts and earnings of $524,472. Music of My Soul was Emerald Downs’ Champion 2-year-old Male of 2012 and is nominated to the $65,000 Emerald Derby on Sunday, August 11.

Noosito also appears headed to stakes action, and could follow his older brothers with a start in the $75,000 Gottstein Futurity on closing day, September 29. Other upcoming stakes races for 2-year-olds include the $50,000 WTBOA Lads Stakes on August 17 and the $50,000 Dennis Dodge Stakes for Washington-breds on September 8.

Noosa Beach finished second to Gallant Son in the 2008 Gottstein and Music of My Soul prevailed by a half-length in the 2012 Gottstein.
