Oregon powerhouses spice girls field at Riverside tournament

Auburn Riverside High School will host the Riverside Invitational “Nothing But Nets” girls basketball tournament today, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The event will feature several of the top teams in the Pacific Northwest, including the two-time defending 3A Washington state champion Ravens, as well as Southridge, Oregon’s four-time defending 6A state champion from Beaverton, and Jefferson High School, Oregon’s defending 5A state champion from Portland.

Also on hand will be Moses Lake, Snohomish, Lakes, Port Angeles, Skyline and South Kitsap high schools from Washington state, and Jesuit and Sunset high schools from Oregon.

The Ravens will play at 7:30 p.m. today against Jesuit of Portland and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against Southridge. Auburn Riverside will close out the tourney with a 5 p.m. game Wednesday against Jefferson.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the “Nothing But Nets” foundation, which provides insecticide treated mosquito bed nets to communities in Africa to combat the spread of malaria.
