Pacific Raceways to rev up with Extreme Karts

Pacific Raceways will host the inaugural U.S. National Extreme Karts races March 20-21.

Racing around the 2.25-mile road course will begin at 9 a.m. and go until 5 p.m. each day.

The field will feature Portand’s Chris Hegar, who races in three classes in his a Shark Shifter kart – Formula 125, limited heavy and super stock CR 125. Hegar, who has been racing for 20 years, typically competes in five events each year. His brother, Ryan, is his strongest competitor. The Hegar brothers travel throughout the country behind sponsors Hagar 4 Manufacturing, Shark Shifter and NGK Spark Plugs.

“Regardless of the weather (I’m) excited to race at Pacific Raceways,” Chris Hegar said. “(Pacific Raceways has) one of the best tracks, in terms of layouts, just not that many people realize the potential that this track has.”

Daily admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth 7-14 and children 6 and under are free. There also will be drawings for spectators to race a kart at a future event; two adults and two juniors will win race entries.
