PREP FOOTBALL: Auburn Riverside closes out season with loss to Puyallup, 21-15

The Auburn Riverside Ravens fell 21-15 in overtime to South Puget Sound League South 4A Puyallup this past Thursday at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

After a scoreless first quarter the Vikings (4-6) drew first blood capping a 11-play 80-yard drive with 25-yard pass from quarterback Jordan Grant to Stefon Lyons.

The Ravens (2-8) got on the board with a four-yard by John Hakala at the seven-minute mark in the second quarter. Josh Cline’s kick was blocked, leaving the score at 7-6 in favor of the Vikings.

With less than three minutes left in the half Auburn Riverside went up 12-7 when Hakala hooked up with recieiver Cole Luckett from 17 yards out for six points. A two-point conversion from the Ravens failed.

Puyallup’s Sean Rehon put Puyallup up 15-12 at the half, scoring on a 13-yard run and adding a two-point conversion.

The Ravens tied the score at 15-15 with a 25-yard field Goal by Cline in the third quarter.

After a scoreless fourth quarter, Puyallup mounted a four-play 25-yard drive in overtime to put the game away 21-15.

Auburn Riverside ran the ball 47 times for 202 yards as a team and added 67 yards in the air for 269 yards of total offense. The team gave up 311 yards of total offense to the Vikings, giving up 284 on the ground and 27 passing.

Connor Bjornstad led the team with 172 yards on 27 carries. Hakala added 30 yards on eight carries. Hakala was also 6-of-15 passsing with 67 yards and two interceptions.

Rehon led the Vikings with 31 carries for 239 yards and one touchdown.
