Ravens ready to reclaim SPSL North 4A title | Prep Volleyball

Last year was a rousing success for the Auburn Riverside Ravens volleyball squad.

First, the Ravens cruised through the South Puget Sound League North 4A, out-dueling Kentwood and Auburn to grab the league title with a perfect 8-0 record. The Ravens then cruised to third-place finishes at the West Central District III and state 4A championship tournaments.

Although the Ravens lost five seniors to graduation, including SPSL North 4A MVP Brooke Bray – now playing at Montana State – and all-league second-team libero Jan Han – now at San Diego State – this year’s team still looks to compete for another league title.

For the 16th year, the Ravens will be led by Chris Leverenz, who won the SPSL North 4A Coach of the Year award last season.

She’ll be aided by the return of two all-league first-teamers, setter Brooklynn Bradbury and outside hitter Maureen Sachs.

Last season, Bradbury set a school record of 67 assists in the opening round of the state tourney.

This year, she’ll look to distribute to a strong class of returning hitters, including senior Chelsea Cooper and juniors Allison Wuerch and Lauren Johnson.

The Ravens will host Rogers in a nonleague match at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
