MID-SOUND 12-BRONCO TRYOUTS

The Mid-Sound Pony Pilots will conduct a 12U team that will be affiliated with the Kent Bulldogs. Tryouts will take place July 10-11 at Saghalie Junior High, 33914 19th Ave. S.W. in Federal Way, from 6-7:30 p.m. both days. Pitchers and catchers are asked to attend both days. Make-up tryouts, or tryouts by appointment will take place July 15. Exceptional 11U players are welcome to attend, but preference will be given to league age 12 players. (League age is determined by the actual age as of April 30, 2009.) The team serves all of South King County, with home fields in Federal Way, Renton and Maple Valley/Black Diamond. 5-TOOL SUMMER RESIDENT CAMPS

These camps in BASEBALL and SOFTBALL, conducted by Auburn High School and Evergreen State Sports, will offer three one-week sessions: July 20-24 (fundamentals for ages 8-14), July 27-31 (advanced fundamentals for ages 15-18) and Aug. 3-7 (fundamentals for ages 8-14). Camps will take place at the Brannan Sports Complex in Auburn, and campers will be housed and meals will be provided at Cascade Middle School in Auburn. GRAND SLAM CAMPS

These camps are for players ages 6-12, and are staffed by local high school coaches and current college players who teach fundamentals in a fun, upbeat environment. Camps are scheduled for July 7-10 at Daffodil Park in Sumner, July 14-17 at Petrovitsky Park in Renton, and July 21-24 at South County Ballfield Park in Federal Way. The cost is $99. RECREATIONAL PLAYERS NEEDED

AUBURN TROJAN CAMP

This camp for boys and girls who will be entering grades 3-9 will take place July 21-24 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day at Auburn High School. The cost is $85 for early registration, and $95 for registration on the first day of camp. The cost includes a T-shirt and a basketball. GRACE BASKETBALL CAMP

GOFAST SPEED CAMP

These four-day camps take place at Kentridge High School, and are open to boys and girls ages 10-18 in all sports. The focus will be on developing speed, agility, quickness, running technique, injury prevention, and linear and lateral movement. MEGA SPORTS CAMP

This camp for boys and girls ages 4 through sixth grade is scheduled for July 14-18 at Faith Baptist Church, 25636 140th Ave. S.E. in Kent. The cost is a suggested donation of $10 per athlete. It includes a T-shirt, sports bag, water bottle, crafts. and athlete finals medal (while supplies last). The camp will allow kids to try out and train in three action-packed recreational sports each night, from beginner to advanced. SENIOR GOLF REC LEAGUE

This recreation league, with an emphasis on fun, is being offered by Auburn Parks and the Auburn Senior Activity Center on Mondays at 9 a.m. through Oct. 27. Play will take place at Auburn Golf Course. The league fee is $10. Greens fees at Auburn are $15 for nine holes and $22 for 18 holes, and are payable at the course. COED AND WOMEN’S CLASSES

PADI scuba classes will be offered through October by GirlDiver Instruction of Auburn. The course includes class, pool and open-water dives conducted in Puget Sound. Sessions will include mini-soccer for ages 4-5 from 9-10:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m., with a cost of $77 for either session; half-day sessions for ages 6-16 from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m., with a cost of $99 for either session, and a full-day session for ages 10-16 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at a cost of $150. AUBURN PARKS YOUTH SOCCER

Registration is open for boys and girls entering grades K-8. Teams will practice once a week, with a possible second optional practice. Games are on Saturdays with an occasional weeknight game. SPARTAN CAMP

This camp, for girls entering grades 6-10 is scheduled for July 14-16 from 9 a.m.-noon each day in the gym at Sumner High. It will be directed by Sumner head coach Mike Fitzpatrick, with help from other local coaches. The cost is $90, and includes a camp T-shirt. The focus will be on the latest techniques for passing, setting, attacking, blocking, individual team defense, serving, and basic team offense and defense.
