Riverside squeaks by Mount Rainier 55-50; Auburn Mountainview improves to 3-1 overall with 65-30 win over Highline; Auburn falls 39-35 to Kentridge | GIRLS BASKETBALL

The No. 8 ranked Auburn Riverside girls basketball team fended off Mount Rainier on Thursday, earning their fourth win of the season with a 55-50 final.

Senior Mackenna Clark had a game-high 17 points and Brooklynn Hinkens finished the game with 13 points.

Senior Kat Cooper, who fouled out early in the fourth quarter, had seven points.

The Ravens improved to 4-1 overall, 2-0 in the South Puget Sound League North 4A while the Rams fell to 2-1 overall and league.

Earlier this week Riverside blew by Kentridge (1-2 league, 1-2 overall) 58-16 at Auburn Riverside.

The Ravens outscored the Chargers 41-4 in the first half with Cooper leading the team with 12 points. Clark, Hinkens and Kendall Foster all added 10 points apiece.

The Ravens will play at Kent-Meridian (0-3, 0-3)at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.

ALSO: The Auburn Trojans (0-3, 0-3) were defeated 39-35 at Kentlake (1-2, 1-3) on Thursday.

Junior Isia Johnson led the team with 13 points and senior point guard Kristiana Strickland had eight points. Kelsey Morgan added seven points.

The Falcons were led by Alyssa Simonson with a game-high 17 points.

Earlier in the week the Trojans were taken apart by No. 6 ranked Kentwood (3-0, 3-1) losing 67-27 at Auburn High School.

Morgan led the Trojans with nine points.

The Conqueror’s were led by Liz Mills with a game-high 17 points. Kylie Huerta added 16 points.

Auburn senior Sienna Pollard, who had three points in the game, injured her ankle and will be miss two weeks.

The Trojans will look for their first win at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow when they host Jefferson (2-1, 3-1). Auburn will travel to Mount Rainier (2-1, 2-1) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

ALSO: Senior Aalia Braboy led the Lions (1-0, 3-1) to a 65-30 win over Highline (0-1, 0-2) with a game-high 12 points on Wednesday at Auburn Mountainview.

Junior posts Caitlin Carr and Hattie Kosko added nine and eight points, respectively and Kaitlyn Jensen, Erika Lombardo and Maddy Maley had six points apiece.

The Lions will travel to Timberline (0-0, 1-0) at 7 p.m. Monday and host Capital at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
