Amber Cratsenburg kept up her speedy work in the swimming pool last weekend.
The Jefferson High freshman won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 free, helping the Raiders take fourth place in the South Puget Sound League girls swimming championships at Curtis High in Tacoma.
Cratsenburg posted Class 4A state-qualifying times in both races. She won the 50 in 24.83 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of runner-up Eryn Murphy from Beamer (25.63). In the 100 free, it was more of the same. Cratsenburg won in 54.42; Murphy was second in 55.50, which also was a state-qualifying time.
Jefferson totaled 123 points. Beamer won with 221, followed by Kentridge with 155 and Puyallup with 131.
TJ’s Savannah Coe took third place in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:11.55.
The 4A West Central District meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Rogers High pool in Puyallup. Competitors then will have two weeks to prepare for state, which is set for Nov. 14-15 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
