Driver in hit-and-run accident on Highway 167 in Auburn turns himself in

An Auburn man identified as the driver suspected in a hit-and-run accident on the Valley Freeway has surrendered to Washington State Patrol investigators this afternoon.

An Auburn man identified as the driver suspected in a hit-and-run accident on the Valley Freeway has surrendered to Washington State Patrol investigators this afternoon.

According to Trooper Julie Startup, the 22-year-old man hit a disabled car on Highway 167, seriously injuring a man pushing the stalled car.

A witness provided a license number to WSP, helping to identify the Auburn man as the driver of the fleeing car.

A man was pushing his disabled car off the roadway shortly after 3 a.m. Friday when the suspect driver hit him from behind, WSP reported.

The man pushing the car was transported to Auburn Regional Medical Hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

A passenger in the victim’s car was shaken but not seriously hurt, WSP reported.
