Aug. 3

Wall fire: 12:17 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to smoke coming from a wall of an apartment building and finding a small, smoldering fire in the second-floor wall near the entry door, got in and cooled the area, containing damage to the area of origin. Although the outside of the building sustained minor damage, nobody was displaced.

Aug. 4

Residential fire: 1:10 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a reported house fire in Pacific found the structure 40 percent involved, and flames shooting through the roof. Firefighters were using a defensive posture to knock the fire down from outside when the back side of the house partially collapsed. Firefighters then transitioned into an offensive strategy, extinguished the fire, and completed primary and secondary searches. Nobody was hurt. The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Aug. 5

Illegal burning: 12:40 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a report of illegal burning found a family that was burning interior housing materials in the back yard. When the fire was extinguished, firefighters informed the family that that kind of burning is always illegal.

Aug. 6

Aid call: 8:43 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters helped a man who had been riding in the back of a pickup truck that suddenly stopped, causing his face to hit the rear window. Friends drove him to a hospital for follow-up care.
