VRFA fire and rescue blotter | June 23

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 229 calls for service between June 12 and 18, among them the following:

June 12

Chimney fire: 11:15 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of thick black smoke coming from a chimney found the resident burning household items in the fireplace. The occupant extinguished the fire and agreed to burn only wood henceforth.

June 13

Aid call: 6:42 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters evaluated a woman laid low by severe abdominal pain, and a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

June 14

Commercial fire: 4:35 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and South King Fire and Rescue responding to the 1200 block of Auburn Way North found smoke at the roof line near a façade. Firefighters used forcible entry equipment to get to the fire on the roof and extinguished it with hose lines. Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause.

June 15

Aid call: 11:11 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters bandaged the foot of a boy who had cut it stepping on glass from a broken lamp, and the boy’s mother drove him to a local hospital for further care.

June 16

Aid call: 10:48 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters examined a woman who was complaining of confusion, and family members transported her to St. Francis Hospital.

June 17

Accident: 4:40 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters, King County Medics and the Washington State Patrol responded to a rollover accident on Highway 167 at State Route 18. Firefighters first stabilized the vehicle, which was on its side, and from which one of the occupants had escaped, and then evaluated two people for minor injuries. One private ambulance transported an elderly man to Good Samaritan Hospital, and another ambulance transported a woman to MAMC.

June 18

Aid call: 11:19 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics treated an unconscious man, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
