Valley Regional Fire Authority crews responded to a report of a small fire in a bathroom at Hazelwood Elementary in Auburn just before 9:30 a.m. Friday.

A school staff member used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. The school was evacuated due to smoke in the hallway, the VRFA reported.

All students were accounted for and there were no reported injuries, the VRFA said.

Firefighters remain on scene clearing smoke from the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
