Auburn Mountainview grad Tayla Alrey helps Southern Virginia win national cross country championship

Auburn Mountainview graduate Tayla Alfrey, now a freshman at Southern Virginia University, finished ninth at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country National Championships this past week, helping her school snag the national title.

Alfrey – who finished 83rd as a senior in the 2010 Washington State 3A Girls High School Cross Country championships – posted a 26-minute, 43.18-second time on a snowy, 6,000-meter course in Lake Placid, N.Y. to help the Knights win their 10th national title. It is the program’s first title since 2007.
