Auburn Riverside High School’s Noah Elwell, track and field, is the Auburn Reporter’s Male Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: Engineering design/architecture.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Hiking and playing music.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: Coach Sumner and my parents.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: I always listen to music and go for a walk before I race to get myself focused.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Kickstart My Heart” by Motley Crue

“Noah Elwell has had a tremendous four years at Auburn Riverside. Noah is the type of runner that coaches enjoy working with. He has a tremendous amount of determination and work ethic that has earned him his second trip to the state meet. He qualified for the state meet last weekend, finishing fourth with a PR in the 800, running 1:56.79.”

Auburn Riverside High School’s Alaya Hill, track and field, is the Auburn Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: DECA because I have it for two periods, and I have lots of friends in both classes.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Between school, track and my job at IHOP, I don’t have any free time for hobbies.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: All of my friends in track helped me succeed by motivating me to go to practice and cheering me on at meets.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: Before every meet I listen to upbeat music to get “in the zone.” It helps me get focused and stay positive.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: Any song by Xavier Weeks. I’m absolutely obsessed with him.

“Alaya Hill has persevered all year long with a nagging injury. She was the NPSL high jump champion with a jump of 5-3. She also won West Central District with a jump of 5-2 in the pouring rain. She is excited to compete this week at state for the third straight year.”
