Auburn’s Danny Shelton is staying put with the Super Bowl champions.

The New England Patriots announced last week that they have re-signed the 6-foot-2, 345-pound defensive tackle. Contract terms were undisclosed.

Shelton, 25, originally became a Patriot in a trade with the Cleveland Browns on March 15, 2018. He played in 13 regular-season games, including one start for the Patriots last season, and finished with 21 tackles.

In the Patriots’ 13-3 Super Bowl win over Los Angeles, Shelton made two tackles, including a profound stop to Rams running back C.J. Anderson for a 3-yard loss.

The Browns chose Shelton in the first round, the 12th selection overall, in the 2015 NFL draft out of Washington. Shelton was a star player at Auburn High School.

He has played in 59 games, making 46 starts, and has 149 tackles and 1½ sacks in his NFL career.
