Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County joined Bank of America volunteers and homeowners to do some exterior work on new Habitat homes in a quiet Pacific neighborhood on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The event, in its sixth year, kicked off the Habitat’s week-long Global Build (Oct. 5-12) effort that brought together volunteers and homeowners to work and repair homes in various neighborhoods throughout the world, including the Puget Sound area.

This year, Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County is one of more than 107 participating local Habitat organizations in nine countries, helping homeowners and families build strength, stability and self-reliance through construction and repairs of shelter.

The Pacific project, on Second Avenue Southwest, involved three single-family homes. BofA volunteers helped weatherproof the homes and install Hardee Plank siding to their exteriors.

Habitat for Humanity constructs affordable homes, revitalizes neighborhoods, repairs homes for low-income people and seniors, operates discount home improvement stores in Southcenter and Bellevue, and mobilizes more than 4,300 volunteers a year.
