Between March 22 and March 28, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 284 calls for service, among them the following.

March 22

CPR: 2:50 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a person whom family had found down in the yard and determined that the person was viable. They started CPR and asked for more resources. After trying CPR for about an hour, the crew ceased efforts, asked for a chaplain for the family and turned the scene over to Pacific police.

March 23

CPR: 3:44 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to an unconscious person and arrived to find CPR in progress, so they and King County Medic One took over. Medic 6 then transported the person to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) with help from Aid 332.

Car fire: 4:56 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a car on fire near a building and arrived to find that a bystander with a fire extinguisher had already put out the fire. The car sustained minimal damage, and firefighters helped the owner push it off the road into a parking spot.

March 25

Aid call: 3:57 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded a man in his 50s who was unconscious, unresponsive and reportedly in cardiac arrest. They determined on arrival that the man was overdosing. Paramedics gave the guy Narcan to wake him up. A private ambulance motored him alert and aware to MAMC.

March 26

Elevator rescue: 10:01 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a report of people stuck in an elevator. They got in the lift and got the occupants out. When the elevator maintenance company arrived, firefighters turned the malfunctioning elevator over to them.

Residential fire: 5:08 p.m. (Algona). Firefighters responding to a detached garage fire learned on the way that the call had been upgraded to a residential fire. E338 arrived first, ensured all occupants were out (the garage was a converted living space) and quickly knocked down the fire. Once a standby team was in place, E338 entered the structure, finished extinguishing the fire, performed a primary search and overhauled the room of origin. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

March 27

Accident: 10:14 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-car motor vehicle accident arrived to find that all occupants of the vehicles were able to get out on their own. None of the involved parties reported any injuries. Firefighters turned the scene over to Auburn Police.

March 28

Tree rescue: 12:43 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a guy who had tried to rescue a cat in a tree and got stuck himself. Firefighters raised a ladder, and the guy climbed down with the cat. Both the feline and the fellow were not hurt.
