The Auburn International Farmers Market has gone to the dogs.

The weekly Sunday market will hold its inaugural Doggie Fashion Show this weekend. The show will begin at noon. The market, located at Auburn Station Plaza, 23 A St. SW, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The market will close Sept. 26.

Dog owners can register their pets for the show at 10 a.m. Dogs will compete in categories, with the “Best in Show” grand prize being a $50 gift basket courtesy of Tiki Tails.

Miss Auburn Hayley McJunkin will be on hand to help judge the entries.

“It will be complete with red carpet,” said Joanne Macnab, market manager.

About 35 vendors will be on hand to offer a variety of fresh locally grown farmed-based foods, hand-crafted items and concession stands that are restaurant-based but feature a home-cooked taste.

Vendors also will be selling pet products Sunday.

The Auburn Animal Services coordinator will be on site to answer questions about the new pet licensing laws. Owners also can have their pets licensed at the market.
