Auburn High School, Applebee’s team up to keep graduating seniors safe; dine and donate to the cause Feb. 4

Your daughter has just graduated. She’s heads out with friends after the ceremony to celebrate this rite of passage.

You carefully planned your “family” celebration not to conflict with her plans to make her graduation as memorable as possible. Only, she doesn’t return home from her party, instead she ends up at the hospital, or worse, due to the sometimes foolish, choices of newly minted high school graduates.

To minimize this possibility Auburn High School senior parents are planning a fun, memorable and safe (chauffeured, chaperoned, alcohol-free) all-night graduation party for the Trojan class of 2011.

“Grad Night” is Sunday, June 19, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. June 20. The seniors are loaded on buses (sans cell phones, which are secured by parent chaperones) and taken to secret locations arranged by an event planning company for numerous awesome activities.

Activities could include hypnotist, casino night, henna tattoos, photo booth, go-karts, disco club, Velcro Sumo wrestling, game arcade center, karaoke. Everything is provided, but at the cost of $150 per ticket.

Applebee’s believes keeping seniors safe is a top priority. On Friday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. until closing (1 a.m.), the Auburn Applebee’s (1441 D Street location only) will donate 15 percent of a diner’s bill to the AHS Grad Night 2011 fund. All proceeds go to supporting bus transportation and providing partial/full scholarships for those unable to pay the $150 ticket price.

You must have a dine and donate flyer for AHS Grad Night to receive your 15-percent donation.

Please e-mail the parent volunteer at namaste63@gmail.com for a flyer.
