Auburn tree farm funds education through Christmas tree sales

Family-owned and operated Pfaff’s U-Cut Christmas Tree Farm in Auburn has a program in place to benefit local schools.

It works like this: a family making a purchase from the tree farm can send the receipt to their child’s school. The school will collect receipts from families and turn them in to Pfaff’s to receive a check for 10 percent the amount going to support educational programs of the school’s PTSA organization.

“We have had this program in place for a few years now,” said Erik Pfaff, who co-manages the farm with his sister, Britt Denton. “Schools taking advantage of it in the past has been spotty, but with funding cutback for them this year we expect more schools to take advantage of the program.”

Pfaff’s Tree Farm is something of a local institution. The farm – located at 29204 124th Ave. SE, two miles south of Kent Kangley Road on Lea Hill – has been in business for 31 years.

“Year after year, the same folks come here for their tree,” Pfaff said. “It’s gotten to be a family tradition. Now it’s their kids coming here getting trees for their own young families.”

Customers can grab a map and borrow a saw and go into the fields to cut their own or they can purchase a pre-cut tree. Customers also will find hand-crafted Christmas ornaments, wreaths and swags, plus garland, mistletoe and other holiday greens for decorating the door, mantle and home.

Santa can be found every weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and by special arrangement.

Members of the Auburn Mountainview High School Drama Club and Choir will sing Christmas carols and perform holiday skits on weekend afternoons between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Pfaff’s Christmas Tree Farm will be open the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekends.
