A church has asked the City of Auburn for an administrative use permit to allow use of an empty warehouse building in the Hart Business Park at 1520 Pike St. NW.

According to paperwork filed with the City, the church plans to hold three services in the building each week and use it for office space.

The warehouse, owned by the Hart Limited Partnership, is in the M-1 or light industrial zoning district.

Attempts to reach the applicant, the Rev. German Camacho, for this article were unsuccessful.

An administrative use permit allows minor issues to be determined in a relatively quick administrative process — here by the planning director — while major issues are subject to the full scrutiny and assessment of the hearing examiner process.

An AUP demands a public comment period, allowing people to comment, ask for a copy of the decision when available and receive notice of any appeal rights. City rules don’t demand a public hearing but Auburn Planning Director Kevin Snyder could require one.

Planners also may require conditions or mitigation measures as part of subsequent decisions. Interested parties may ask for a copy of the decisions when available.

Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal has filed a site plan and a floor plan, but if it decides to develop beyond that, it would need to obtain all necessary permits or approvals, including building permits, utility permits and change of use and tenant improvements.

The church filed applications with the planning and development department on July 7, and on Nov, 9 planners determined that the application was complete. People may review the permit application at the offices of the planning and development department at One East Main Street, Auburn WA 98001. Comments must be received before 5 p.m. Dec. 14.
