I would like to respond to Roni Strupat’s letter regarding Dave Reichert’s support of the Zika funding.
I was surprised to read that a fellow reader was dismayed at the police and fire blotter reporting in last week’s opinion section. Sometimes, honestly, it’s the only reason I open the paper, ha!
I do not think that the Auburn Reporter Police Blotter is out of line in any way.
Jerry Cornfield recently wrote about the new EPA clean water rules coming to Washington.
On Aug. 19, the Reporter published a letter from P. Larson criticizing Congressman Dave Reichert over Zika funding. Unfortunately for P. the facts do not back up that claim.
I appreciate your paper, and most of it is well thought out and well written. However, I find the way that your crime and fire reports are written to be callous and insensitive.
As a proud parent of an Auburn Junior City Council member, I am always encouraged and excited to see youth get involved in our community and demonstrate leadership and civic engagement.
Regarding Jerry Cornfield’s commentary, “Unorthodox Trump to go down swinging in our state” (Aug. 19, Auburn Reporter):
I worked for the City of Auburn for many years, leaving recently to pursue other avenues.
The U.S. alone uses 12 million barrels of oil every year to meet plastic bag demands.

I hope Congressman Dave Reichert is enjoying his seven-week recess. I bet the people who will contract Zika, who are dealing with lead in their water, and the Supreme Court vacancy, due to his inability to put people and country above party thank him.
If Auburn is already more than you imagined, then why are you, the City Council, considering spending $20 million (for downtown improvements)?
Black lives matter? Yes, of course. But that issue seems to have inspired the killings of Blue Lives. All lives matter, no matter what color: white, brown, yellow and black

Please ban plastic bags in Auburn. According to blogspot.com, “200 million tons of plastic bags are being produced in a year. Less than 3.5 percent is recycled.
Recently a negative mailing was done on behalf of Pat Sullivan against Barry Knowles in the 47th District.
A recent editorial I read explained Trump supporters are celebrating “the politics of fear,” possibly due to his policies on illegal immigrants and unvetted Muslims.
Once again, we are having problems having our mail delivered. We have lived at this address less than a year, and it has been a regular occurrence that there are problems with the delivery of packages.
On Saturday night (June 18), there were two hours worth of loud, intense, fireworks including mortars, put on by our Muckleshoot Tribe.
