Auburn Community Players’ ‘Mary Poppins’ opens this weekend

“Mary Poppins”, the family friendly musical, is being brought to stage featuring local talented actors of the Auburn Community Players.

Performances are 7 p.m. June 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18, with 2 o’clock matinees on June 5, 12 and 19 at the historic Auburn Avenue Theater, 10 Auburn Ave.

Set in 1910 London, Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins” delighted Broadway audiences for more than 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The Auburn Community Players is comprised of local, volunteer actors from the area. They produce two musicals a year, rehearsing and building sets and costumes in their spare time. To audition or volunteer, visit the ACP Facebook pageor contact the Auburn Parks Department at 253-931-3043.
