    Energetic kids of all shapes, sizes and abilities took the floor at Terminal Park Elementary School to dance to “Firebird,” a morning story ballet camp offered through the Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department.
    Under the guidance of Stephanie Cox, instructor from Auburn’s Children’s Dance Theater, the camp features ballet classes, craft projects and more, with weekly ballet themes.

    Tenacious Mary Vesper is a late-blooming adventurer who refuses to limit herself – but not at the expense of taking unnecessary risks.
    For instance, she makes it a habit of climbing mighty mountains, even reaching the summit of some of the tallest, most rugged peaks in the Pacific Northwest.
    “Mountain Mary” – as many of her friends call her – is a 61-year-old Auburn woman unafraid of new challenges.

    The epitaph for heavy metal music has been written many times in its 30-year lifespan.
    Whether it was punk in 1976 or Kurt Cobain in 1991 dealing the death blows, metal has always bounced back, each time regaining its popularity as a dominant genre in the music industry.
    This summer, heavy metal is again roaring back, this time in the form of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, a 13-band, three-stage metal-stravaganza – featuring Disturbed, Slipknot, Dragonforce and Mastodon (if you’ve never heard of them, ask a teenager) – that will storm into the White River Amphitheater on Wednesday.
