Children’s Hospital Volunteers were recently treated to a taste of Rainier Youth Choirs.

RYC’s Colla Voce choir, composed of local youth, donated their time to sing a set of holiday songs during the Dec. 1 volunteer appreciation dinner at the Kent Historical Museum.

The choir also performed the next evening on the Lake Washington Argosy Christmas Ship. RYC’s Consonare ensemble entertained the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church’s annual Women’s Christmas Tea on Dec. 3 in Renton, and will be the featured choir on Argosy’s Dec. 18 Christmas Ship sailing from Kirkland at 8 p.m.

Rainier Youth Choirs consists of three auditioned groups – Bella Voce, Colla Voce and Consonare, spanning grades 4 through college age youth. Members come from Covington, Kent, Maple Valley, Auburn, Federal Way, Enumclaw, Issaquah and Renton.

All three choirs will perform in the Making Spirits Bright Concert 3 p.m. Saturday at Kent United Methodist Church. The concert will feature many holiday favorites, classics and contemporary selections and audience sing-a-longs.

Tickets may be purchased at a discount on the website, or at the door.

Auditions for singers who wish to join RYC in January and perform at Benaroya Hall in March may be scheduled by appointment through Dec. 16.
