Auburn Riverside goes 2-1 at Nike Northwest Invitational tourney; Mountainview improves to 2-1 with 61-33 win at Kentlake; Auburn falls to Tahoma 55-46 | GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Raven girls rebounded from an opening round loss to go 2-1 at the Nike Northwest Invitational tournament this past week at Southridge High School in Oregon.

Riverside lost 54-41 to South Eugene this past Thursday to open the tourney.

After going into the intermission tied at 22-22 the Axeman outscored the Ravens 33-19 in the second half, holding Riverside to just four points in the fourth quarter.

Kat Cooper led the team with 19 points with Makenna Clark adding nine points. Jalea Crump had seven points.

The Ravens rebounded in their second game of the tourney, beating Central Catholic of Oregon 59-52 on Friday.

On Saturday the team wrapped up the tourney with a 61-54 win over Edmonds-Woodway. Cooper again led Riverside with a game-high 23 points. Clark added 14 points and Brooklynn Hinkens added nine points.

The Ravens begin league play in the South Puget Sound League North 4A at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday versus Kentridge.

ALSO: Auburn Mountainview improved to 2-1 on the season with a 61-33 win at Kentlake on Saturday. The Lions were led by Aalia Braboy’s 14 points with Caitlin Carr chipping in with 13 points. Aly Carr had 12 points and Hattie Kosko added eight points.

On this past Thursday the Lions earned their first loss of the season, falling 60-50 to Inglemoor. Mountainview will host Highline at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Auburn Mountainview High School… The Auburn girls lost their opening game 55-46 at Tahoma on Friday. The Trojans were led by junior Isia Johnson’s 15 points with Erin Fischer adding 10 points. Tahoma’s Jordan Eberhardt had a game-high 18 points. The Trojans will host Kentwood at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday… The Auburn Adventist girls will travel to Charles Wright at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday to take on the Tarriers.
