Piano legend Barney McClure will perform his last show in the Northwest this Saturday before moving to Palm Springs, Calif., the following week. He will perform as the featured guest with saxophone master Mark Lewis from 6-9 p.m. at the Auburn Wine and Caviar Company, 2402 A St. SE.
Lewis commented during a performance with McClure on the Main Stage of the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts on May 25, what a great honor it has been for him to perform with McClure. He told the audience that the first time he performed with Barney McClure was as a college student in 1977.
McClure was accompanying singer Vonne Griffin, who had taken an interest teaching in the young saxophone player, and the singer invited Lewis sit in with them. Thirty-five years later, Lewis and McClure teamed up again, this time as two seasoned professionals.
