7 candidates in the running to represent 30th Legislative District

Current State Rep. Mike Pellicciotti not seeking re-election for Position 1; incumbent Jesse Johnson to face two opponents.

Candidates for two 30th Legislative District state representative seats will face a primary election this August as seven contenders filed to run for both Positions 1 and 2.

Jamila Taylor (D), Martin A. Moore (R), Cheryl Hurst (D) and Janis Clark (R) are in the running for Position 1. The position is currently held by Mike Pellicciotti (D), who is not running for re-election. Pellicciotti is running for Washington State Treasurer against Duane A. Davidson (R).

For Position 2, Mark Greene (R) and Jack Walsh (R) will run against incumbent Jesse Johnson (D).

Top two finishers in each race in the primary will move on to the general election in November.

The primary election will occur on Aug. 4 with the general election to take place Nov. 3.

King County Elections closed the five-day candidate filing period at 4:30 p.m. May 15.
