City of Algona Mayor Dave Hill has announced his intentions to run for reelection this fall.

City of Algona Mayor Dave Hill has announced his intentions to run for reelection this fall.

Hill stressed his professional management of Algona’s financial condition during the worst recession since the Great Depression. Under Hill’s watch, he said government services were maintained, even expanded for residents while other cities cut back.

The City also avoided furlough days for staff and kept City Hall open, he said.

“The recession is not over, and there remain many improvements to be completed in the next few years,” Hill said. “I want to continue using my education and experience to guide Algona through the next four years.”

In addition, Hill has pursued a partnership with the YMCA to offer services to the youth of Algona and the funding of 15 YMCA youth scholarships authorized by the City Council.

Hill served on the Algona City Council for three years before being appointed mayor in October 2006. In November 2007, he was elected to serve a full term as mayor.

He has been a resident of Algona for more than 18 years and has been actively involved in community issues.

Hill is a federally licensed tax accountant.

The official candidate filing period for public office is June 6-10.
