White River Chainsaw Carvers Championships: 8 a.m..-5 p.m., July 10-12, (auction, 5:30 p.m.., July 11; and 3:30 p.m., July 12), Pacific City Park, 600 3rd Ave SE. Inaugural event, featuring 12 of the top chainsaw artists in the Northwest including three-time Echo Cup Champion Bob King. The event is a joint partnership between the City of Pacific, the Pacific/Algona community center and WRCCC. Carvers will compete for thousands of dollars in cash and merchandise. Pieces will be auctioned on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with proceeds split between competitors and covering event costs. King County Wastemobile: Beginning July 17, service will be stationed at the northwest corner of the Auburn SuperMall, 1101 SuperMall Way, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday. The service will be offered on the first and third full weekends of the month. Program offers a convenient place for residents to safely dispose of oil-based paint, propane tanks, motor oil and other hazardous household waste. There will be a free car wash, courtesy of the U.S. Navy and 40 community tables, featuring free items. Developed by Green River Community College’s natural resources program and available through continuing education for the general public. The 8-hour, hands-on class will be taught by an experienced wilderness survival trainer as well as a woman EMT, both students in the natural resources program at GRCC.
