Faria in an Auburn-based artist who studied glass fusing with two talented Oregon coast glass artists. This experience allowed her to explore the vast possibilities inherent in glass and also helped to define her unique voice and vision for her art. To Di Faria, her fused glass artwork, is “an expression of who I am, a blending of my ideas and creativity with glass and metal.” In her work, she often interprets artwork from other mediums such as fabrics, acrylics, watercolor and woven art into glass.

DiPlacido uses the familiarity of dyed fabric, which she then stretches onto a frame and groups as an installation of three or more frames clustered together. Tie-dye, batique and stamping allow for detailed patterning that is “easy on the eyes” and pairs it with a unique installation approach.

The Auburn City Hall Gallery is presented by the City of Auburn and Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation. For a 2010 Gallery Brochure or for information on other cultural arts programs, go to www.auburnwa.gov/arts or call 253-931-3043.
