Golf FORE Auburn Schools raises $29,000 for First Tee programs in Auburn School District

Elementary students at 10 Auburn schools will now have the opportunity to benefit from the First Tee program, courtesy of the Golf FORE Auburn Schools fundraiser, April 29 at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent.

The benefit raised more than $29,000, which will go towards purchasing the equipment and curriculum for the First Tee program, which aims to teach students life skills through the game of golf and emphasize the values associated with the game.

According to regional First Tee organizer Robyn Lorain, the money raised at the benefit will provide equipment and curriculum for at least 10 Auburn elementary schools. Currently the program is available at Evergreen Heights Elementary school, as spotlighted in a previous Auburn Reporter story.

The First Tee curriculum currently is used in more than 2,000 schools nationwide.
