The City of Auburn and the Auburn Food Bank are teaming up with KaBOOM! and Delta Air Lines to build a new playground at Auburn’s Brannan Park on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Service clubs, social service agencies, faith-based groups, scouting troops and individuals are being asked to come together and help build the playground in conjunction with a team of volunteers from Delta Air Lines.

Volunteers are needed for the following duties:

• Playground build volunteers: Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (approximately 75 volunteers to help with the playground construction)

• Build captains: Thursday, Oct. 17 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for a training session and Build Day on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (approximately 16 volunteers that will serve as team leaders during Build Day)

• Site prep volunteer: Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (approximately 30 volunteers that will help get the site ready for Build Day)

According to project officials, volunteers do not have to be trained, skilled or have any special tools.

Most volunteers must be 18 years of age or older; however, there will be projects where kids over age 15 can participate and activities for all kids younger than 15.

Volunteers will simply need to bring their volunteer waiver, sturdy shoes, work clothes and dress appropriately for the weather. All volunteers will be provided with a shirt (courtesy of Delta Air Lines); breakfast, lunch and plenty of water; instruction sheets for all building projects; garbage bags, dumpsters and recycle containers; and any other project materials that may be needed.

All volunteers must be pre-registered and are required to fill out a volunteer waiver.

Individuals, groups, organizations and families are encouraged to register online or they may also download registration information at www.auburnwa.gov/events and return the form by mail or fax.
