Auburn-based Ply Gem Windows delivered 4,282 school supply items to Dick Scobee Elementary School last Friday.

The donation and delivery mission has become a company tradition. Ply Gem Windows donated 2,541 supply items to a Spanaway school last year but wanted to help a school closer to home.

PlyGem Windows, which employs more than 300 employees locally and over 6,000 nationally, has been in business more than 70 years, more than 20 of which have been in Auburn.

The winning department in the donation drive received an ice cream party.

“With that simple incentive and the total items donated … it goes to show that our employees truly care about student education and our community,” said Shannon Anderson, human resource manager for Ply Gem Windows.”We are looking forward to our third annual event next year and finding new ways to become more involved in our community.”
