An Auburn man jumped or fell from the Spring Street overpass in downtown Seattle and landed on a Chevrolet Blazer driven by a Seattle man traveling southbound on Interstate 5 Thursday afternoon, Washington State Patrol reported.

The pedestrian – 25-year-old Timothy Bull – and the driver – 77-year-old Robert Weisenbach – were seriously injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Bull suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the Seattle Fire Department. Weisenbach sustained neck and back injuries, according to the fire department.

Both are in serious condition in intensive care, a Harborview spokesperson said Friday.

According to State Patrol, Bull was standing on the overpass and jumped or fell just as Weisenbach was driving under the overpass.

The incident was reported around 1 p.m.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved as the investigation continues, State Patrol said.

Traffic on I-5 through downtown was backed up for miles because of the incident.

The 2005 Blazer was totalled, authorities said.
